Former Globetrotter Charlie Primas belongs in Michigan Sports Hall of Fame

Telford, John Michigan Chronicle 12-20-2005 Old Wayne State University basketball All-American Charlie Primas belongs in the Michigan Sports Hall of Fame. Called "King Snake" by his teammates when he excelled in basketball and football at old Miller High School and in basketball for Wayne State University and the Harlem Globetrotters, Primas was the second Black PSL cager to make All-American in the college ranks (old Northeastern and Wayne State star "Jumping Johnny" Kline was the first in 1952).

A first-team selection on Abe Saperstein's and Our Sport Magazine's 1953 All-America teams, Primas is a charter member of the Wayne State University Athletic Hall of Fame, and his 1976 induction preceded both mine (1978, for track) and Kline's (1979, for basketball...
