Spike Lee speaks at Oakland U.

Michigan Chronicle 02-14-2006 Noted and controversial director, producer and actor Spike Lee spoke before an enthralled crowd of students, faculty and others at Oakland University on Jan. 16, in honor of Martin Luther King Day and to greet local film festival winners from Oakland University and to kick off an African American celebration at the university.

Lee spoke on a variety of socially and politically relevant issues, along with the strong focus on King. The university adopted the theme of "The African-American Journey-Liberation Through Organization' for this year's celebration, noting Oakland U's ongoing commitment to diversity.
