CAUGHT IN ALCOHOL COMPANIES' WEB. Colleges and universities may want to add the Internet to its battleground for stopping underage and high-risk drinking, a new report suggests.
Underage drinkers are increasingly frequenting the Web sites of alcohol makers, lured by flashy graphics, contests and games designed to appeal to them, says a new study from the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) at Georgetown University (D.C.).
An analysis of site visits by a commercial company that specializes in such tasks found 13.1 percent of in-depth visitor to distilled spirits sites are underage. However, two sites had much higher numbers: www.skyy.com received nearly half of all in-depth visits from underage people.
