Security firm can teach campus police how to spot terrorists, others.(Homeland Security)

A training method used by Israeli forces could help university police better protect their campuses from terrorists and other criminals, say its proponents.

New Age Security Solutions has taken its brand of training, Behavior Pattern Recognition, to campuses, recently training police at the University of Maryland and George Mason University (Va.).

"Behavior Pattern Recognition is basically a methodology that was employed in Israel. It started with the Israeli aviation security; now it is used in trains, mass transportation and maritime," said Yuval Bezherano, executive vice president of NASS. "BPR, basically, is looking for the unusual. First you have to find what is usual in an environment, then you define what is unusual. Then you look for it."...
