Forging the broadband 50.(influential people, companies and technologies in the broadband industry)(Brief Article)
CED, December, 2001
Simply stated, the Broadband 50 is a list of people, companies and technologies that the editors of CED believe are the best positioned or have the most potential to shape the broadband realm as we bid good-bye to 2001 and usher in 2002.
We employed a variety of variables to determine who made the list and who did not.
Things that counted: deployments, market share and innovation, as well as recent developments and deals. What didn't count: those who lobbied us or sent us the best toys throughout the year.
To further maintain the integrity of the list, we kept it as secret as possible, only notifying those who would suit our editorial aims. We also kept our fine advertising folks out of the loop until after the folio was closed.
