DENVER -- WooshCom Corp. has announced the first shipments of its DHEI to ASI Interface Adapter. Initial customers include AT&T Broadband, Time Warner Cable, Comcast Cable Communications and Cox Communications. The product converts MPEG-2 transport streams from Motorola's proprietary DHEI to the world standard interface DVB-ASI.

The product's small size allows it to be installed in a rack's cable space directly behind such legacy equipment as Motorola's IRTs. This breaks the 12 DHEI barrier and provides all the flexibility of the highly compatible ASI signal, which can be run hundreds of feet, according to the company.

Remultiplexers may now be placed anywhere in the headend where space is available, which saves the cost of labor-intensive reshuffling...
