On March 9, the Senate Committee on Finance approved by voice vote legislation to reauthorize the 1996 welfare program for another five years. The Personal Responsibility and Individual Responsibility for Everyone (PRIDE) bill was presented by Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa). It provides a $6 billion increase in funds that could be used for child care.
