U.S. DoC issues guide to IP rights

Circuits Assembly, July, 2006

WASHINGTON -- A new guide to intellectual property rights written by the U.S. Department of Commerce is now available on the DoC's Stop Fakes Website (stopfakes.gov).

The DoC's STOP (Strategy Targeting Organized Piracy) initiative is designed to prevent organized theft of IP from American businesses, and allows companies to report theft or suspected misuse of corporate IP.

China is by far the leading source of fake product, with 68% (by product revenue) of the U.S. Customs seizures germinating from there. Hong Kong is next, at 6%.
