A 190-hp, EPA-certified Detroit Diesel engine powers the XL 3100 excavator's highway-speed wheeled undercarriage as well as its upperstructure and telescoping boom. The single-engine design offers excellent cost savings, the company says, as well as dramatically reduced fuel consumption and maintenance costs. Available with a 4x4 or 4x2 undercarriage, the machine can be driven at speeds of more than 50 mph. Gradall's boom moves up, down, side-to-side and telescopes, creating a low working profile.
