The Associated General Contractors of America, New York State Chapter, Inc. has awarded 16 scholarships for the 2006/07 education year. Since the Associated General Contractors of New York State, Inc. began its Scholarship Program in 1988, it has awarded $661,000 in scholarships to 291 students who are interested in entering the highway construction industry. The chapter supports one of the largest AGC scholarship programs in the nation, even though it is far from the largest chapter in terms of membership. Most of the 16 students awarded a scholarship this year are studying civil engineering, construction technology or construction management either at two- or four-year colleges and universities. Many are repeat winners.
