ABB, MTL agree to partner in remote I/O. The two say they have entered a "long term" co-operation agreement with respect to ABB's S900 remote I/O system, which is designed to operate in Zone 1 hazardous areas. MTL will sell its own version of S900 which will be called MTL8000 1/1 which complements the existing MTL8000 2/2 and 2/1 process I/O.

MTL's Graeme Philp said "The addition of S900 to our range helps us towards our goal of becoming a `top three' supplier of open control system components to the process industry." MTL also announced it has become the global distributor for U.S.-based Relcom, a manufacturer of Fieldbus Foundation H1 power supplies and connectivity products.
