M2 PRESSWIRE-14 August 1998-ATA: Cargo traffic increases again in June overall growth is 4.2 percent (C)1994-98 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:130898 Washington, D.C. -- The Air Transport Association (ATA) today announced that the total cargo carried by the U.S. scheduled airlines increased 4.2 percent in June over last year.
Domestic cargo growth increased a healthy 3.1 percent, while international increased 5.8 percent. Cargo traffic includes mail, freight and express. Total international cargo was strong, increasing 5.4 percent, despite the fact that the total international mail carried in June fell 10.3 percent. Domestic mail also decreased in June, decreasing 3.8 percent. This drop, however, was not enough to pull the overall figure down. Domestic cargo...
