Morgan Global Government Bond Index (GBI Global) rose 2.41 in local currency terms in September - its 13th consecutive monthly increase.

Investors focused on markets that were perceived to offer a high prospect of monetary easing and on markets that had come under selling pressure over the previous months. Leading the way in September were markets that had fallen the most in August: South Africa was up 11.89 versus a drop of 15.34 in August; Australia was up 4.71 versus a 1.55 drop in August; Canada was up 4.35 versus a 0.95 drop in August; and New Zealand was up 3.82 versus a 0.03 drop in August...
