M2 PRESSWIRE-20 October 1998-ATA: September airfares drop -- Average fares decline 1 percent (C)1994-98 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:191098 Washington, DC -- The Air Transport Association (ATA) released their monthly Domestic Airfare Report today showing a 1 percent drop in average airfares in September when compared to the same month last year.
Average coach fares declined 1.9 percent, while first-class fares increased 3.6 percent. Year-to-date (January-September 98) average fares have remained relatively unchanged over the same period one year ago, increasing $2.48 to $138.74.
