M2 PRESSWIRE-26 May 1999-US DOD: THAAD tenth flight test launch aborted (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:250599 The Ballistic Missile Defense Organization and the U.S. Army scheduled Theater High Altitude Area Defense, or THAAD, flight test at the White Sands Missile Range, N.M., was aborted at 7:14 a.m.

(EDT) when the Hera target missile malfunctioned. Today's test was to have been the tenth in a series of 13 flight tests currently planned in the Program Definition and Risk Reduction phase of the THAAD system.
