Participants at 23 schools learned how to grow a healthier, and therefore safer, athletic field as part of a pilot project called SAFE sponsored by the Texas Agricultural Extension Service.

The SAFE (Sports Athletic Field Education) program helps coaches, athletic directors and maintenance personnel understand how proper water and nutrient management can improve the quality of their fields.
