M2 PRESSWIRE-2 August 1999-UK GOVERNMENT: Government welcomes court endorsement of pensions settlement for former National Bus Company employees (C)1994-99 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:300799 Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott has welcomed today's decision by the High Court to approve the negotiated settlement to the long-running National Bus Company (NBC) pensions dispute.

Mr Prescott announced on 15 June a provisional agreement with the NBC pension trustees involving a total payment to them of GBP355.77 million. This agreement has now been endorsed by the High Court.
