M2 PRESSWIRE-12 April 2000-NORTHWEST AIRLINES: Northwest Airlines adds Airbus aircraft to Memphis base 160 additional pilot positions (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:11042000 MEMPHIS -- After decades of being largely a DC9 base, Northwest`s Airbus A319 and A320 aircraft will join the Memphis fleet starting in September.

The addition of these aircraft to the base will mean 160 additional pilot positions at the Memphis pilot base. "The support of Memphis and the entire Mid-South region, the enhancements to the airport, and the addition of 48 new flights in June made this move possible," said Gene Peterson, vice president flight operations.
