M2 PRESSWIRE-7 August 2000-OHIO EPA: Ohio EPA fines Dayton Power & Light for past air violations at J.M. Stuart Plant (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:04082000 Ohio EPA has reached an agreement with Dayton Power & Light (DP&L) for past particulate emission violations at the company's J.M.
Stuart Station in Aberdeen (Adams County). DP&L will pay a civil penalty of $28,000. On February 25, 1999, particulate testing by a DP&L consultant revealed particulate emission rates from Boiler #1 that exceeded permitted levels. An electrostatic precipitator, which is connected to the boiler, controls particulate emissions. On March 20, 1999, DP&L repaired broken discharge electrodes in the electrostatic precipitator.
