M2 PRESSWIRE-6 December 2000-NASDAQ: Nasdaq Composite Index posts record one-day point increase percent gain also largest ever (C)1994-2000 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:05122000 Washington, DC -- The Nasdaq Composite Index today achieved its largest single-day point and percentage increases in its 29 year history.

Preliminary figures show the Composite gained 274.01 points, or 10.48 percent, to close at 2889.76. The previous point-gain record was set on April 18, 2000, with the Composite Index rising 254.41 points. The Composite last set a record for a percentage increase in a single day on May 30, 2000, when it climbed 7.94 percent.
