M2 PRESSWIRE-24 May 2001-ATA: Overall passenger traffic constant in April; Domestic traffic drops, international rises slightly (C)1994-2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:23052001 WASHINGTON -- The Air Transport Association (ATA) reported that, on average, system-wide revenue passenger miles (RPM) increased 0.1 percent in April, while system-wide passenger enplanements declined 0.7 percent from the previous year.

Domestic revenue passenger miles fell 0.6 percent, while international RPMs rose 1.9 percent. Revenue passenger mile is the industry term used to quantify the volume of business; one RPM is one fare-paying passenger transported one mile.
