Children had to write a piece using the opening lines of well-known writers, who also acted as judges and presented the awards today with Schools Minister Cathy Ashton. There were four categories: story, started by Jacqueline Wilson; poem, by John Hegley; non-fiction by Tony Robinson; and script by Phil Redmond, the creator of Grange Hill, Brookside and Hollyoaks.
