A new study by Agricultural Research Service nutritionist Shanthy A. Bowman, based on survey data, notes that milk consumption decreases as adolescent girls grow older.

Out of 732 girls aged 12 through 19 years, the 12-year-olds had the highest milk intake, with 78 percent drinking milk. The 12-year-olds also had the lowest soda intake--nine ounces on a given day. Conversely, the 19-year-olds had the lowest milk intake, with only 36 percent drinking milk, and a high soda intake of 14 ounces a day.
