M2 PRESSWIRE-6 October 2003-CAA: CAA launches logbook for aircraft maintenance engineers(C)1994-2003 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:10062003 Aircraft maintenance engineers will now, for the first time, be able to record officially all their training and career milestones thanks to an engineer's logbook which has been introduced by the UK's Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

Under European requirements (currently JAR-66) engineers have to record details of the training and skills they have acquired to be able to gain their licence. The new logbook will enable them to do this and will also allow the CAA to assess the qualifications quickly and so streamline its handling of licence applications.
