M2 PRESSWIRE-6 May 2004-UK Government: UK submits its national allocation plan to the European Commission(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:05062004 The UK submitted its National Allocation Plan (NAP) under the EU Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) to the European Commission on 30 April and publishes it today for further public consultation.
The National Allocation Plan sets out how carbon dioxide emission allowances will be allocated to the affected UK industry sectors for the first phase of the scheme which runs from 2005-2007. The overall number of allowances to be allocated in the first phase of the scheme is consistent with an initial reduction in UK carbon dioxide emissions of 15.2 on 1990 levels by 2010.
