M2 PRESSWIRE-21 December 2004-UK Government: Gilts registration transfer to Computershare complete(C)1994-2004 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD RDATE:12212004 Computershare Investor Services plc has formally taken over as the registrar for UK Government bonds, known as gilts. Following a review of Government debt management arrangements, HM Treasury and the Bank of England, the previous gilts registrar, concluded that the private sector would be better placed to provide any future benefits of economies of scale for this service.
