Viridian spokesman Robin Greer said: "If Irish customers are to have choice and competitively priced electricity supplies it will be necessary to have generators competing to invest in and operate efficient power stations. Until recently such has been the ESB's dominance in the generation market that it has been difficult for new entrants to come into the market."
