This babbling idiocy over Steve Forbes' flat tax proposal should repel anyone not entirely enfeebled by 50 years of shuck and jive, bait-and-switch political manuevering. I don't care how the government robs me of my income and savings - be it via the IRS and the 1040 or Steve Forbes "simpler" flat tax scam.

Unless the amount of money taken from me and others is reduced, the method whereby it is extracted is irrelevant. Now some will chime in that Mr. Forbes' flat tax would be implemented across the board at a rate 17 percent, which is lower than the effective rate of federal taxation for most taxpayers.
