Federal funding for the National Institutes of Health $1.5 million study of what Rep. Peter T. King calls Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan's "bogus AIDS cure" should be severed, the New York Republican says. "Why are we wasting money and granting unwarranted prestige to Farrakhan's quacks?" Mr.
King, New York Republican, said. "The NIH should put the $1.5 million it's throwing away on this study towards genuine AIDS research rather than using it to make a political blackmail payment." Mr. King's condemnation of NIH's decision came in an April 25 letter to Donna Shalala, secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, in which he objects to clinical trials of low-dose oral alpha interferon (LDOAI), marketed under names such as Kemron...
