The Baltimore Orioles are negotiating with Maryland Baseball, Inc., to be partners in a new Class AAA expansion franchise and also possibly the entire Maryland Baseball minor league system, which currently includes teams in Bowie, Frederick and Salisbury. The partnership, tied to the Class AAA expansion franchise yet to be awarded, also could result in another local minor league franchise in the Orioles system, which sources said could possibly be placed in York, Pa., Harford County, Md., or even Northern Virginia - where the Orioles face the threat of a competing major league team either through relocation or expansion.
