Businesses nationwide were bracing yesterday for a strike and a virtual shutdown in parcel delivery after contract talks broke down between the Teamsters and United Parcel Service Inc. A strike could halt operation at the nation's largest parcel-delivery service, and UPS officials warned clients it could not guarantee delivery after yesterday.
