Dear Bob: A while back, you told a reader that he should accept his new car using a quart of oil every 2,000 miles. I couldn't disagree more. My 1988 Honda CRX, with 225,000 miles, even now uses only about a quart every 5,000 miles. When new, it used 1/2 quart every 7,500 miles. What amount of usage do you suppose the car you commented on will have at 100,000 miles? I'd never accept as normal such outrageous usage.
I don't care what the manufacturer claims, they should replace either the engine or the car. My CRX still has many original parts, including the steering ...
