Virginia Power expects Hurricane Floyd to cut power to "several hundred thousand people" by the time the storm plows through the region. "We are expecting a multiday outage with several hundred thousand people being without power," said Virginia Power spokesman Tom Kazas. Potomac Electric Power Co.
