Byline: James Morrison, THE WASHINGTON TIMES Dark clouds in Kenya The U.S. ambassador to Kenya yesterday warned that "dark clouds" of corruption hanging over the East African country overshadow the progress the government has made in combating official graft. Ambassador Michael Ranneberger as energy minister was widely criticized by Kenyans and international aid donors.
Nairobi's Nation newspaper said the president threatened Kenyan democracy. Mr. Saitoti and Mr. Murungi "have the Sword of Damocles hanging over their heads" from two of Kenya's most shocking corruption cases, the newspaper said.
