Hilton VP takes on Sainsbury real estate

Desmond Taljaard has been appointed Sainsbury's property director. He takes up his post on May 7 and becomes a member of the board.

He will move from the Hilton Group where he is senior vice-president, real estate, and a member of the Hilton International board.

Before that he was president and chief executive officer for Ladbroke Group's US real estate division.

Sainsbury chief executive Sir Peter Davis said: "I am delighted to welcome Desmond to Sainsbury where his previous expertise in a customer focused environment will be of immense value to us as we continue to develop our variety of Sainsbury store formats and our property portfolio."
