Going for a premium

Grocer, Jan 15, 2005

Fruit supplier Gomez has launched premium white grapes into its Gomez Reserv range aimed at independent retailers.

The grapes are being shipped from South Africa, with more on their way from South America in February, followed by Spanish and other European suppliers at the beginning of summer.

Gomez managing director Jim Parmenter said: "Demand for the Gomez Reserv grape is high, despite a generally good availability of standard grape in the sector, which again demonstrates the enthusiasm that there is from our non-multiple customers for a high-quality, easy-to-identify premium brand."

Next to launch in the range will be strawberries, available from next month, said Parmenter.
