Feds tap firm for San Ysidro border crossing expansion

San Diego Business Journal, March 8, 2004 by Mandy Jackson

The U.S. General Services Administration selected RossDrulisCusenbery Architecture Inc. as the architect engineer for the upcoming expansion and reconfiguration of the border station in San Ysidro.

The GSA, the property manager for federal government facilities, estimated the project's cost at $100 million to $125 million. Completion is anticipated in 2011.

The project involves the reconfiguration and reconstruction of the existing port of entry for vehicles and pedestrians crossing the U.S.-Mexico border into San Diego. It will allow for improved traffic flow, safety, and security for travelers and border agents.

There will be up to 50 inspection booths, new administrative office space, overhead canopies, and a new inspection building for pedestrians.

RossDrulisCusenbery is headquartered in Sonoma.
