An unmerged future: Mitchell International

San Diego Business Journal, March 16, 2009 by Mike Allen

An Unmerged Future: Mitchell International, a provider of software that helps auto collision shops estimate the cost of repairs, said it jointly decided to terminate its planned merger with CCC Information Services of Chicago, citing a federal court issuing a temporary injunction against the merger.

A U.S. District Court judge in Washington issued the injunction March 9 to suspend the merger until the U.S. Federal Trade Commission further reviews the case. The FTC had filed a complaint in November, stating the merger would seriously reduce competition in the space and increase costs to insurance companies, repair shops and car owners.
