Pentagon tinkers with Predator

San Diego Business Journal, April 4, 2005 by Brad Graves

Pentagon Tinkers With Predator: The Air Force has signed a $68.2 million contract with General Atomies Aeronautical Systems, Inc. to further develop the Predator B variant of its radio-controlled aircraft, the Defense Department announced last week. The Predator B, which the company sent on its maiden flight in 2001, flies higher and farther than the original Predator, which first flew in 1994.

The turboprop-powered Predator B can also carry more weapons than the original model, which is powered by a four-cylinder engine.
