Black Gold: The Pentagon announced that it has awarded Science Applications International Corp. a fixed-price contract with a maximum value of $6.2 billion.
Under the five-year pact, SAIC will provide all four branches of the armed services--as well as federal civilian agencies--with chemicals, petroleum, oils and lubricants. The government may renew the contract for a second five-year term.
The Defense Supply Center Richmond, in Virginia, awarded the deal.
