Firm's surfin' safari leads to Caribbean
San Diego Business Journal, May 11, 2009 by Mike Allen
American Wave Machines, a locally based maker of surf wave machines for amusement parks, says it will debut the first standing wave machine in the Western Hemisphere at Beaches Turks & Caicos Resort Villages & Spa in the Caribbean on May 14.
AWM, which does not disclose revenues, says its Surf Stream machine delivers a fully adjustable, gravity-driven wave that makes it safe for novices and all levels of surfers.
The SurfStream is part of the Beaches resort's Pirates Island Waterpark, which is now 10 times its original size, and contains new slides, waterfalls and a boardwalk.
