Career Successes

Mark Foletta has been an integral part of San Diego's financial community for the past 25 years. He began his career in accounting at Ernst & Young, quickly moving into commercial, business and management roles. Foletta is an accomplished executive who has served in senior positions--often simultaneously--for many years. He served as the director and vice president of Mission West Properties from 1993 to 1997, while thriving at Intermark, Inc./Triton Group, Ltd. from 1986 to 2000, starting as an assistant corporate controller (1986-1990), and eventually moving his way up to senior vice president, chief financial officer and corporate secretary (1994-1997) and director (1996-1997). Foletta was principal of Triton Group Management, Inc. from 1997 to 2000.

CFO's contributions to organization's growth and profitability

In under seven years, Foletta has led the completion of a number of high-profile transactions as well as increased Amylin's visibility in the financial space. Since 2001, he has guided the execution of four follow-on public offerings, two convertible debt offerings and one Private Investment in Public Equity (PIPE).

Financial visibility was a strong growth factor for Amylin, led by Foletta and his team. He increased analyst coverage for Amylin from three banking firms in early 2000 to 22 firms currently.

CFO's contributions to other areas of the organization

Foletta works with the human resources team so he can be involved with employees at new hire and "Management Development at Amylin" programs. At these programs, he shares the culture of Amylin and his perspectives on the company's growth over time. In addition, he visits field employees to better understand BYETTA and SYMLIN customers and addresses the challenges of promoting the products.

Foletta is also an invaluable member of several committees at Amylin, offering a dimension of financial expertise to the committee's initiatives. Currently, he participates on the Executive Committee, Strategy Committee, Administration Committee and Operating Committee.

CFO's community involvement

Foletta dedicates his time to the local and national financial and bioscience communities. He is engaged on company boards and participates in industry forums. He is the chair of the Audit Committee, member of the Compensation Committee for Anadys Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and a board member of Pharmatek, Inc.

Foletta is also committed to his alma mater at The University of California at Santa Barbara, where he is actively involved with core leadership for the San Diego chapter of the Alumni Association.
