Business Services Industry

The Front Row

San Diego Business Journal, Jan 21, 2002 by Denise T. Ward

Speaking of local facilities, Cox Arena, on the San Diego State University campus, was named as one of the Prime Site Award winners for the third year in a row by Facilities and Event Management magazine.

Facilities' awards are based on the opinions of those in the industry directly involved with site selection - promoters, booking agents and event planners. Voting is based on the convenience of location, attractiveness of the facility, quality of the staff, maintenance, food and beverage functions, technological capabilities and ease of setup and breakdown.

The arena, which was built five years ago, features a $1.2 million, eight-sided. video scoreboard, a 1,200-square-foot VIP lounge, five team dressing rooms, a full-service TicketMaster box office, and multiple floor plans and layouts.

Cox Arena recently hosted the NCAA Division I Final Four women's volleyball chainprionships, as well as last spring's first and second rounds of the NCAA men's basketball tournament.
