Human Resource Executive has named Karen Jennings, SBC Communications Inc.'s senior executive vice president of human resources and communications, its 2005 HR Executive of the Year for her outstanding contributions to their organizations. Former congressman Lionel van Deerlin received the Golden Dedication-Lifetime Achievement Award from the South County Economic Development Council for his support of economic development initiatives and cultural programs benefiting South County.

Case Group Architects was honored by the Building Industry Association of San Diego with a 2005 SAM Award for best detached housing product. National Market Resource Center honored La Costa Glen Carlsbad with the 2005 National Mature Media Award for their advertising and marketing materials produced for mature adults. Fourth District San Diego City Councilman Tony Young has been honored by BOMA with the 2005 Public Official of the Year for his volunteer efforts and dedication to the organization. The Mail Systems Management Association has announced that Gordon Glazer, president of San Diego Postal & Shipping Equipment, has become a certified mail and distribution systems manager. The San Diego chapter of the American Jewish Committee has honored Justice Cynthia Aaron with the Judge Learned Hand Award for her work on the board of directors of the San Diego Volunteer Lawyer Program and her commitment to her legal profession. Catalyst Advancement LLC has been named one of the nation's Best Workplaces for Commuters by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Catalyst Advancement LLC was chosen for meeting EPA's National Standard of Excellence by providing a way for employers to encourage energy conservation with commuter benefits. Deloitte & Touche USA LLP was awarded the Silver Torch award from the National Black MBA Association for promoting equal opportunities for minority professionals to prove themselves and advance in strategic positions within the organization.
