Oh, what a deal for L.A. ad firm
Saatchi & Saatchi DFS/Pacific will open offices in the Golden Triangle to service an agreement signed to service the San Diego Toyota Dealers' $3.5 million account.
In April, the international advertising firm grabbed the account away from the San Diego firm of Phillips-Ramsey Advertising & Public Relations. Saatchi & Saatchi, which claims to handle 70 percent of the Toyota Dealers Associations throughout the United States, will move into offices at the La Jolla Executive Tower.
However, Hal Hardy, account supervisor for the San Diego Toyota dealer network, said Saatchi & Saatchi doesn't plan to use the account as a springboard into San Diego's pool of advertising accounts.
Hardy said he is servicing the San Diego Toyota Dealers' Association with the help of an account executive and an administrative assistant.
Conversely, Joe Cronin, president and chief executive officer at Saatchi & Saatchi's Torrance office, said that the firm may eventually target additional San Diego accounts.
Though it won the account from Phillips-Ramsey less than three months ago, Saatchi & Saatchi has already produced a new commercial that has aired on seven television stations locally, Hardy said. Lucka Films of Los Angeles produced the Toyota commercial for Saatchi & Saatchi. Primavera Video Productions, which recently filed for liquidation under Chapter 7 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, put the finishing touches on the commercial at its Solana Beach studio.
