Matt's moment

Arkansas Business, April 25, 2005 by Nate Hinkel

At deadline, the anticipation for last weekend's National Football League draft had reached full steam when a four-page spread in Sports Illustrated featuring former University of Arkansas at Fayetteville quarterback Matt Jones hit newsstands.

The national magazine's top football writer, Peter King, profiled the laidback, shaggy-haired athlete, who is now being touted as a "freak" for the speed his 6-foot-6, 242-pound frame manages to generate.

The story, mixed with a graphic outlining the draft, features multiple pictures of Jones along with quotes from some of the most respected coaches, players and NFL draft experts around.

And if you're not an SI subscriber, chances are you caught one of the features on Jones on ESPN's "Sportscenter," in the Los Angeles Times or the Washington Post, let alone his name being dropped as "the most exciting player in the draft" in publications and on television shows across the country.
