In June, the National Science Foundation awarded a $2.3 million grant to Arkansas State University at Jonesboro for its environmental and molecular biosciences program. The grant will be used to train ASU's environmental science graduate students to be better communicators of their science to the general public.
The program will place eight doctoral-level students in five eastern Arkansas school districts to teach mainly sixth--through eighth-graders. The grant will run through April 2009.
