Alltel developments

Arkansas Business, August 31, 2009

More Arkansans who lost their jobs in the aftermath of the Verizon-Alltel merger are making their way in the world.

Greg Taylor, former director of the enterprise program management office at Alltel, has purchased a CertaPro Painters franchise, which is a professional painting contractor for commercial and residential projects.

For those readers who find themselves ravaged by cravings for cappuccinos and ice cream while baking in a tanning bed, fear not. An ex-Allteler has got you covered.

Joe Slayton, the former president of Alltel's wireless operations who formed Slayton Enterprises LLC after receiving his Alltel walking papers, purchased Club Tan Studios in Jonesboro, a high-end tanning salon with a coffee shop and dessert bar.

Dan Lohr, Alltel's former executive vice president of customer service, is now responsible for all domestic and international call centers for Apple.

Jim Smith, former VP of sales at Alltel, purchased Alarm Tec Systems of Sherwood. Alarm Tec is a dealer, designer and installer of fire alarm systems, security and intrusion systems, closed-circuit television systems and access-control systems.
