Magazine recognizes Acxiom, ABF Freight

Arkansas Business, Sept 22, 2008 by Amy Riggin

Two Arkansas companies, ABF Freight System Inc. of Fort Smith and Acxiom Corp. of Little Rock, announced last week that they have been cited as innovators in information technology by InformationWeek magazine, which put them on its 2008 InformationWeek 500 list.

The listed companies were revealed Sept. 15 at a gala awards ceremony during the InformationWeek 500 Conference in Monarch Beach, Calif.

InformationWeek seeks to identify and honor the most innovative users of information technology by tracking technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of America's best-known companies.

This is ABF's third consecutive year to make the list, according to a news release. The company's selection was based on innovative inventory management tools and its cultivation of customer intimacy via online shipping tools.

The online list ranks the top 250 companies. ABF was listed as No. 202 with revenue of $1.71 billion. Dave Cogswell, president of logistics and transportation, was listed as the highest-ranking IT executive.

ABF is the largest subsidiary of Arkansas Best Corporation.

Acxiom said this is the second consecutive year it has made the list. It was not listed in the top 250, and no further information was available online.
