Child Care Ins. Available, Affordable: Labor WASHINGTON - Liability insurance for employer-provided, on-site and near-site child care centers is both available and affordable, a Labor Department task force has concluded following a nine-month study. "We believe that there is currently no significant impediment to obtaining or affording child care liability insurance for employers who wish to provide on-site or near-site child care," the Labor Department said.

President Bush directed the secretary of labor to conduct the study in his budget message last year. The market is "working well" in providing liability insurance to employers with on-site or near-site centers at this time, according to the task force, which made no recommendations for policy changes....
